Is violence towards s in some African countries a result of Christian missionaries?

I heard some very interesting information on this topic recently in an interview with a journalist who is examining this connection of American evangelicals with strong political ties (I won't say which affiliation) and the implementation of severely punitive laws related to ual behavior in African countries, specifically Uganda. Major international news organizations like BBC have connected the dots, too. There is information about it on the internet from reliable sources, not those nutwing hate groups.
