How can I see Twilight New Moon without feeling weird?

I saw the first Twilight and it was horrible. Plain bland and boring. I saw the trailers for New Moon and it actually seems descend. I know this may be considered a "chick flick", but it does seem violent and dark. And I like violent dark morbid movies with a lot of death betrayal and carnage.
